THE PHILIPPINES

Up until 1350 these Islands were visited and settled by Indian, Arab, and Chinese Traders amongst the indigenous tribes, Religions were spread amongst by Budhists, Hinduism, and later Islam.

Spain sent Magellan to the Cebu straits around 1528 AD and was slain by Chief Lapu Lapu and his follower tribes at Mactan Island shores.

Years later Spain sent a much more formiddable lot and soon conquered Rajah Humabun and converted en masse to Christianity and Catholics the weaker amonst the Muslims relented too.

They had ways to control the population one way or another

Present day the population has grown to 100M mostly Catholics 93% Muslims 5% Budhists and others 3%.

Chinese Filipinos control most of commerce with a handful of Spanish origins

The British had come for a few years after the Spanish, then America who finally gave independence to a ruined nation from the Japanese onslaught in the late forties.

Leaving the country poor of infrastructure and the rest was by the likes of Marcos and other corrupt adminstrators.

The Muslims are the worse off in these lands with Mindanao being populated by Christians which led to an uprising which has left them in tatters, moving up to the Christian Central & North to seek livelihood and safety

The Country gets through many Typhoons and earthquakes in a year with poverty rife.
